Sony loves a good alternative DualSense controller colour, and it’s always safe to assume more are on the way. Fans think they may have discovered what to expect next, however, as the pad’s official warranty page makes reference to two unreleased hues: Metallic Gray and Metallic Red. Presumably, these will form some kind of metallic promotional line, which could extend to face plates as well.
The Japanese giant has been making a big deal of its colour selections, recently also adding them as theme options in the PS App. It’s probably safe to assume this kind of functionality will eventually be expanded to the PS5’s operating system as well, so you can pair your console’s physical colour scheme with what you see on the screen.
These new colours could, of course, be a mistake from an over-eager web developer – but this would be a very specific error if that was the case. Our guess is that the hinted hues will be announced at some point later this year – and, to be honest, we’re expecting them to look pretty tasty. Who doesn’t want a metallic controller, after all?

More colors for both faceplates and the controllers from Sony are always nice to see.
I'm a little jealous at how Nintendo always gets so many colors and special edition Switches (especially the ones from Japan).
Neon Green, Yellow and Orange would be pretty cool. But in all honestly, I'd rather just have the OG White Duel Sense modded, with a jet black glossy mid exterior(instead of it being dark grey matte) and have the lining of the 4 iconic PlayStation button shapes inside the clear buttons, be Pink, Green, Blue & Red colors.
It would make the controller pop more and look a heck of a lot more fun than how it currently looks.
But based on what's available, Nova Pink looks the nicest imo. The worst? Well, couldn't stand Starlight blue. I wish they would of went neon instead of the bleaker duller desturated Blue they went with.
“Japanese giant” takes shot
That gray sounds really nice, have to see it of course. I just ordered an Edge, so no more controllers for me for a while.
@neonpizza i agree, that the colored PlayStation buttons would look so good on the white, i would buy that hands down, only difference i would make is i would make the black part a dark gray against the white. I wish they had a custom store like Xbox so we could go build them online and see if we like it or not 😀
anything that brings colored buttons back is automatically better than the rest
Would love a controller with the gray colour scheme and coloured buttons like they did with the 20th anniversary Dualshock 4!
Dang, I just bought a spare black DualSense on Black Friday but when the Metallic Gray drops I won't be able to resist it. I still have a brand new in box Steel Black Dualshock 4 that I bought and never used.
I'm content with the white controller that came with my PS5, but may eventually buy a 2nd controller during future sales.
It's going to be difficult to get me to come off the Galactic Purple lol. I may get the metallic Grey as a backup controller if it looks as good as it sounds.
I love my Nova Pink controller but a metallic one sounds pretty cool
"Would like like that in red, purple, gray, pink, or God of War?"......
@Green-Bandit and if you don't like your Edge I deny all responsibility for convincing you to get it
Gray & Red are two of my favorite colors. I'll have to see them first, of course, but if they look nice, I'll probably pick them up. My next Dualsense purchase will be the Edge first, though.
I’d settle for a Sony Blue controller. Not a fan of the pastels. Right now I’m rocking black factory plates and a black Dualsense.
I'm a sucker for different controller options. I have all current ones except for white (which I sold).
I'd love to see green, yellow and orange varieties. I also think that the pink and red are too similar and that the blue should have been a much darker blue to match the PlayStation branding. That and matching faceplates would be awesome.
need a metallic blue to match my xbox aqua shift controller. but first please update the system to make each person's controller linked to their user
I'd happily purchase a silver version.
Anyone else hoping that Metallic Grey will be similar to the DS4 in Steel Black?
Any yes, BRING BACK THE COLOURED BUTTONS!
Current favourite controllers, both in terms of colour and ergonomics, are the Steel Black and Midnight Blue DS4s.
I know that pink is not red, but the color variations of the controls always seem to stay in the red, blue or gray spectrum. And now fans discovered 2 new colors, Metallic Gray and Metallic Red. It must be a conceptual choice by Sony, but they could use a green or yellow color.
What will be next? Fashion Bordeaux? Arctic Cyan? Where´s my Forest Green?
@Gbarsotini Sony have done some more outlandish colours in the past - thinking of Sunset Orange, Alpine(?) Green and I'm fairly sure there was a yellow one at some point (might have been limited edition with Death Stranding?)
Really like that gun metallic grey on the R32 GT-R (unicorn dream lottery car unmodified) and can see it being a really nice choice of color on the DualSense
@NEStalgia HAHAHA, no i ain’t going to put that on you friend. I wanted your review and said we are so similar on controllers that you would help me make my decision, so thats on me and plus at $200, i will send it back and return it. Not keeping a high priced controller around for looks. It comes in tomorrow it say’s, so we should be talking soon.
@sanderson72 Yes, they were more fun in the previous generation. It's in this generation that they're kind of boring, we can't even change the background of the home screen (that I know). But I'm sure it's a design decision and in the future they`ll be slowly introducing more options.
And this is coming from someone who owns a white controller, a Midnight Black and a Starlight Blue, and close to buying a Gray Camouflage.
I think I'm actually part of the problem.. haha
@Green-Bandit Haha, I'm sure you'll like it though. Definitely really liking mine. It's still a PS controller with the "wrong" stick position and tension, and it's still overpriced and under-featured (2 paddles, bad battery), but it's still regardless a pleasure to use compared to....every other PS controller Still prefer xb elite2 a reasonable amount. If I compare to Switch Pro, then it gets difficult. It feels more premium no doubt. Yet Switch Pro really copies most of Xbox's ergonomics and sticks.... I'd say Switch Pro is more ergonomic than Edge, but Edge has more premium feel (and paddles)
@NEStalgia Switch Pro isn’t a bad controller at all and get’s outstanding battery life. Could use a more premium feel, i would agree with that. But overall a joy to hold and use for any amount of play time. I just want the Edge to get rid of some of the pain i get in my left hand while holding and using the DS original for around the 45 min to hour mark. I have heard from many that it feels better in hand, so i am excited to see what that all entails. DS was already the best Sony controller for me at the present time, so i would have to think this sit’s there or slightly better. Like i said if not for some reason, i am keeping all the paper work, boxes and sending it back. I won’t keep a $200 controller that i can’t see myself wanting to play with. I will just use my DS and keep my Series X as my 100% main, if i like this then Xbox might lose a few 3rd party games to the PS5. I will for sure tomorrow after unboxing being chatting with you.
I’ve got a Galactic Purple one as my primary controller now.
I absolutely love that color.
